Employee Assistance Program

Employee Assistance Program

Globally, employees are faced with the increasing challenge of maintaining a healthy balance between being effective and productive on the job while maintaining their desired quality of life at home. The demands of modern business usually necessitates long working hours, short deadlines with fewer resources. This has resulted in an increase in unmanaged stress and related illnesses within the work place.

A recent survey of 35 organizations by the non-profit Institute of Health and Productivity Management (IHPM) showed that psychological health conditions are the number one health-related reason for lost productivity in the workplace. In the workplace, these psychological health problems are more likely to manifest in behaviors such nervousness, restlessness, or irritability. They could also present as physical complaints, such as a preoccupation with aches, pains, fatigue and troubled/ sleepless nights. These employees may become passive, withdrawn, aimless, and unproductive and it may result in exits from the organization without any apparent reason. They also may be fatigued at work, partly as a result of the mood disorder or due to troubled/ sleepless nights.

Management today realize that employees’ personal lives definitely have an impact on work performance, and are taking steps to proactively manage the impact of stress on the work.

Increasing individual resilience is the key to productivity, efficiency of service delivery and cohesiveness amongst employees. This resilience can be achieved by individuals becoming more self-aware, thus enabling them to be more attuned to changes in their emotional and psychological states, both on a personal and work based level.

Evidently, the cost of wellness cannot be quantified however the investment made on the psychological wellbeing of employees has proven to represent an investment that will pay off — not only in healthier employees, but also for the company’s subsequent bottom-line.

At Tranquil and Quest our business is to make your employees to be more engaged in your business through a more comprehensive approach to employee wellbeing.

  2. It provides quick and confidential assistance.
  3. It helps resolves conflicts and reduces the need for escalations.
  4. It helps reduce absenteeism and possibly staff exits.
